Super Milk Thistle^® X does not contain soy per se, but rather phosphatidylcholine, a phospholipid found in soy. Phosphatidylcholine is a specific phospholipid found in the human body, where it is a necessary member of the cell membrane. The phosphatidylcholine is used in the unique Phytosome^™ process, which combines one part plant extract with two parts phosphatidylcholine. Research has demonstrated that this combination substantially improves absorption and bioavailability in comparison with equivalent dosages of unbound plant extracts.^† Bioavailability refers to the ability of the ginkgo to reach the circulation from its site of administration.

Phosphatidylcholine is obtained from soy oil because it is not present in appreciable quantities in other vegetable oils. Allergies to soy are often associated with soy protein, not phosphatidylcholine. Whether a person who is sensitive to soy can take the product depends on his or her individual sensitivity. However, we do not recommend this product to someone with a severe soy allergy.
