ITI: Sustainable from the start

Going green has simply been business as usual for ITI for a long time. We believe that science, technology and saving the planet are compatible. And, whether it’s the natural ingredients we use in our products or the delivery methods we choose to ship them out, we believe sustainability should be part of every step.

The Cat’s Claw
As far as our supplements are concerned, we’ve been ahead of the curve for some time. Well before it was fashionable to talk about fair trade and giving back to the community, we were working with the indigenous Ashaninka people of Peru.

With the Ashaninka and IMMODAL, we developed Saventaro® max-strength cat’s claw. Because Saventaro is a root extract, only one-third of the plant’s cultivated sections are collected at any one time. This ensures an ongoing, sustainable harvest. Afterwards, new cat’s claw is planted in the site, which is not harvested again for 10 years. And, in recognition of the expertise we rely on, a portion of the profits of Saventaro sales goes back to the Ashaninka for health care and education.

The Whole Shark
When we use shark to source our products, we use the entire fish. And, the chondroitin from shark used in our supplements is never harvested from any endangered species.  We researched suppliers exhaustively to find a company that provided us with non-endangered, ethically-harvested species.

The Other Fish in the Sea
By limiting fishing times and keeping harvests reasonable, our suppliers give fish populations a chance to maintain their numbers. And, by relying on small, non-oil producing boats with controlled net sizes, we can make sure that our fish oil supplements don’t just benefit people, but keep a balance with nature.

Organic that means it
Supplements with organic ingredients get star treatment here. Naturally, we use organic raw materials grown without pesticides and herbicides, but our manufacturing facility has also been certified by Quality Assurance International, a USDA accredited certifying agent.

Even shipping makes a difference
We work with distributors to reduce shipping, which in turn, reduces fuel, transport, and packaging—and all the costs and carbon that it requires. How we ship to distributors—with recycled packaging, soy-based inks, and automatically locking boxes (to save on tape) is all part of the process.

At ITI, we are constantly working to match commerce with our convictions. Whether that means being energy-efficient here at our manufacturing facility, or finding the best practices for people and the planet, we’re on the leading edge of making science and nature part of the solution.
